When did you first come to Phuket & what was the main attraction?
I first came to Phuket in 2011 to develop my Muay Thai skills training at a small Muay Thai gym in Rawai.

You’ve lived in many parts of the island, what have been the highlights?
I lived in the Rawai area for close to 5 years and now live in the North. The highlight to date has to be my 3 years as Head Coach at Phuket Fit where I got to coach people from all over the world.

It was a very rewarding experience and I felt privileged to be a part of peoples’ transformations. Some of my longer-term students stayed with me for between 3 to 9 months: sharing in their progress from unhealthy with little confidence to healthy and confident really had a profound impact on me.

I still stay in touch with many of my students around the world and hearing all about their continuing success is what motivates me to try and be better at what I do every single day.

Revolution Fitness offers a variety of classes with some interesting names, what can you tell us about ‘Hurricane’?
Hurricane on Wednesday mornings is probably our most challenging, but fun class. The class is designed to maximise fat burning through EPOC (excess post oxygen consumption) with a strong focus on improving speed, agility and athleticism helping you to look better, move better and feel better.

You have been coaching for many years, how do you motivate your clients to keep coming back?
Indeed, I have been coaching for almost 14 years! I find that being supportive of peoples’ lives away from training is key: learning peoples sticking points such as long working hours or a young baby and implementing small habitual changes over time that can be fitted realistically into everyday life – that is the best way to keep people motivated and on the right track to maintaining consistent progress. Small steps turn in to big results when done consistently over time.

What does Revolution Fitness have in store for 2020?
Revolution Fitness aims to become the go-to community gym in the North of the island – locals and expats can come to get the help, support and training they deserve to improve their health, become stronger, reduce recurrent pain & injuries all in a fun and supportive environment.

What does ‘Health’ mean to you?
Health is our biggest wealth, without it all areas of our lives suffer, including our mental health, energy levels and mood. Being healthy is not about crazy workouts, strict diets and restricting all the things you enjoy in life. Health, to me, is being able to pick things up without fear of putting your back out, being able to hike up that hill without feeling your heart and lungs will explode and having confidence in your body to be able to do a wide variety of tasks without constant concerns of pain and injury.

Tell us your favourite spot on the island to eat…
My kitchen! Ha, I would probably have to say the Vegetable Burrito at The Mexican in Boat Avenue.
