If you're planning to train in Thailand on a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), there's an important update to be aware of. Starting 31 August 2026, Muay Thai DTV applications will require additional supporting documents. Here's exactly what's changing and what you'll need to prepare.
What's Changing
From 31 August 2026, applicants submitting a Muay Thai DTV application will need to provide proof of residence and a police clearance certificate alongside the standard application documents. This is a new requirement — if you're applying before this date, check with your visa provider whether the old requirements still apply to you.
New Document Requirements
1. Proof of Permanent Residence
You'll need to provide proof of permanent residence in the country where you're submitting your visa application.
2. Police Clearance Certificate
A police clearance certificate — or an official document confirming you have no criminal record — issued by your country of nationality or permanent residence.
3. Submit Both the Original and an English Translation
For both documents above, you'll need to submit:
- The original-language document
- An English translation
Why This Matters
Incomplete applications may result in processing delays and an increased risk of disapproval. Given how far in advance most training trips get booked, it's worth starting the paperwork early — police clearance certificates in particular can take weeks to arrive depending on your country.
